For more than twelve years, our home had been the one place that felt steady. We owned it, cared for it, and built our life there piece by piece. Then this woman, who lives two doors down, decided to make us her target, and everything changed. What started as strange behavior turned into a nonstop campaign of harassment that slowly poisoned the sense of peace we used to have. Instead of feeling safe when I pulled into my driveway, I began feeling tense, wondering what she would do next.

She began calling the police with false reports, trying to paint us as some kind of problem family. It did not stop there. She contacted animal control, the health department, and anyone else she thought might show up at our door. Every single complaint was unfounded, but that did not matter to her. The goal was clearly to wear us down, to force us into constantly defending ourselves. We finally had no choice but to file a restraining order, and after everything she had put us through, we won it. She tried to file one against us too, but when we contested it, the judge dismissed her case.

What makes it even more disturbing is how invasive she has become. She stands outside photographing and filming our house, our windows, my children, and me as if we are under surveillance. She watches us in a way that makes even simple things, like stepping into the yard or opening the curtains, feel uncomfortable. On top of that, she posts awful lies and cruel comments about us in public groups, trying to damage our reputation in the neighborhood and beyond. It feels like she wants to turn other people against us while hiding behind the excuse that she is “just concerned.”

The worst part is the daily disruption. She stands in her yard screaming obscenities at us, sometimes early in the morning and sometimes late at night. She sets her dogs off and creates chaos at hours when everyone else is trying to sleep or live normally. The police tell us there is little they can do because she is on her property and has a right to express herself. They say the same about the photographs, as long as she is not directly filming inside our windows. So we are left dealing with behavior that clearly feels threatening, while being told it does not cross the legal line enough for real action.

I understand that she is officially mentally ill, and I do have compassion for that. But mental illness does not erase the damage being done to my family. It does not make it acceptable to terrorize children, target our home, or try to destroy the animal rescue work we have built. There is a difference between struggling with mental health and deliberately making other people suffer. For too long, we have tried to stay calm, follow the law, and handle this the right way, but living like this has drained us emotionally and made our own home feel like a battlefield.
At this point, I am exhausted and desperate for a real solution. I am tired of documenting incidents, tired of defending ourselves, and tired of feeling like the system only steps in after things become even worse. I want my family to feel safe again. I want to sit in my own yard without being watched, and I want my children to grow up without this constant tension hanging over them. I am asking for ideas, advice, anything that can help bring this nightmare to an end, because right now, home no longer feels like home.
