It started as a normal evening. I wasn’t expecting company, so when I heard a knock on the door, I was surprised. When I opened it and saw him standing there, leaning casually against the frame with that confident half-smile, something about the moment immediately felt different.

“Hey,” he said, his voice calm but warm.
“Hey… what are you doing here?” I asked, a little curious.
He shrugged lightly. “Honestly? I just felt like seeing you.”

I stepped aside and let him in. The house was quiet, the kind of quiet that makes every small moment feel more noticeable. We stood there for a second, closer than usual, and I could feel his eyes on me.
“You look different tonight,” he said.
I laughed softly. “Different how?”
He took a small step closer, lowering his voice just enough to make my heart beat faster.

“Like someone I should’ve noticed a long time ago.”
I crossed my arms, trying to hide the sudden nervous smile on my face. “And why are you noticing now?”
He looked at me for a moment, then said quietly, almost like he had been thinking about it for a while.
“Because the more I get to know you… the more I realize something.”
“What?” I asked.
He leaned a little closer, just enough that the space between us felt warm.
“You might actually be exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
For a moment, neither of us moved. The words hung in the air between us, and I suddenly realized the night might not be as simple as it started.
